About the Writer

My name is Madeline and I am currently living in Florida and have been the last three and half years with my husband, Matt.  We have two beautiful little girls named Maeve & Morrigan who are the absolute objects of our affections…and our finances! I am absolutely in love with my husband who is intelligent, handsome and just overall wonderful, and I feel so fortunate to have such a wonderful little girls with him.  Will there be more in the future?  We don’t know; we’re just living for the “Maeve moment” right now.  We do, however, have three cats.  The cats are: Calliope who, bless her heart, is sweet and SO stupid, Isis the devious black cat who intends to take over the world (we treat her especially well, since she promised us high level positions upon success of her take-over) and Minerva the once fat, now svelte, outdoor cat who loves to bring us ‘presents’ that are usually half emboweled over our porch – she always eats the head and leaves us the hind end. I wonder if there some kind of symbolism behind that?

I work in the Investor Accounting department of a major financial institution.  No, I’m not a manager or senior or anything like that. I’m just the lackey with a college degree from a private school to show for her average pay.  So basically, I guess I’m like 95% of all college graduates, right?

In my free time, there are many things I love to do.  I love to shop (d-uh!  I’m a girl!), get manicures and pedicures, spend hours perusing the shelves of Barnes and Noble creating a mental ‘wish list’, read historical novels (of which you may read my reviews online), sew historical garments, write my historical romance novel(s) and create a line of natural body products that range from scrubs and lotions to eczema cures.  Yes, I do all of this on top of being active in a local moms group, and I still work out regularly.

So, by this point you’re probably wondering how this working mom with too many hobbies is interested in the Renaissance.  Well, I am absolutely in LOVE with history.  I grew up in Europe and I think that’s where the love initially started.  I married a history fan (my husband is a medieval weapon connoisseur) who encouraged my love of history.  We had a Renaissance wedding and go to Renaissance Fairs all the time.  It was his idea to start this forum to encourage my love of history.  In case you can’t tell, my favorite period of time is the Tudor era, primarily the reign of Henry VIII and his illustrious collection of wives.

Being a working mom with too many hobbies, I may not always have time to post every day, but don’t give up on me!  I really do enjoy writing on this blog and try very, very hard to do it at least once a day.  As you can tell, that goal is not always met.  So, as long as there is content for me to write about, there will be blog posts, and when there’s not, my husband Matt will try to fill in with articles on medieval warfare and weaponry, his specialty!  Also, please feel free to comment; I love comments!

I hope you enjoy reading my blog as much as I enjoy writing it.
